TOUR ITINERARY  

Day 01: Arrival Paro 

Taking our flight from Dhaka, we will arrive at the Paro airport within just about an hour. Throughout our journey we will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalaya Mountains, including the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake peaks in Bhutan. On arrival we will be greeted by our representatives and transferred to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Thimphu is a small, charming capital city, probably the smallest capital in the world, resting in the heart of the Himalayas. It sits in its own valley fanning out from the river. The skyline hardly changes as new buildings are all constructed in traditional Bhutanese style. Though a small town, Thimphu is a charming place. Every shop is stacked with multiple products -from grocery to textiles to shoes and handicraft products. Increasing number of shops sell imported goods brought in from Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore because of Druk Air’s connection to Bangkok. The town is also filled with bars selling all kinds of alcoholic drinks.

After check in, we will have lunch at the hotel. After lunch, we will visit the King’s Memorial Chorten – a historical monument, Chang Gangkha Monastery which is one of the oldest monasteries in the valley, National Library to observe the collections of holy scripts. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 02: Thimpu Sightseeing

On the second day, we will start the morning with breakfast meal in the hotel premises. After having our morning meal, we will start our journey with Folk Heritage Museum. The Folk Heritage Museum with a three storied, 19 th century traditional house provides you a glimpse of the Bhutanese lifestyle, and artifacts from the rural households. One can come across typical household objects, tools and equipment. These museums that were established in 2001 in Thimphu provide visitors and tourists with fascinating insights into the Bhutanese material culture and way of life.

Dochula Pass. If the weather and wind is favourable enjoy the drive and the scenic vistas from Dochula Pass, among the highest motor able roads in Bhutan. The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountain Jomolhari and

Jichu Drake. Dochula is marked by hundreds of prayer flags fluttering in the wind. While taking a walk above the pass and one might come across signs of ‘sky burials’.

On our way back, we will pay a visit to Buddha Point, another place from where you can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley. It is again a short drive from the town. You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.In the afternoon, we will have time to stroll down to the local market. Where we will find CLOCK TOWER and Weekend Market . Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 03: Thimpu- Paro (Paro Sightseeing Tour)

After breakfast, check out at drive to Paro via Taktshang (Tiger Nest) and start gradual ascent towards Taktshang about two hours of hike to Temple. Tiger nest is one of the most sacred temples for Buddhist, which was founded by a Great Indian Buddhist master known under the name of Guru Padmashambhava. The legend says he was born as an eight year old boy from the blue lotus in a lake at Danakosha. During eight century, this great master arrived here in Takshang riding on the flying tigress in the form of Drojidroley(fierce thunderbolt) subsequently meditated here for about three month and subdued many evil spirits.This temple hangs on the face of sheer cliff about 900 m above the Paro valley. The view from the temple courtyard is spectacular. We have to walk back to the road point and take our ride to the town.

After lunch,we will visit the the beautiful Paro valley provides a visitor with all the essential elements of Bhutan in general. Ancient temples, massive forts, monasteries, picturesque villages, scenic hikes, and drives. There are many attractions the Paro valley has to offer

Paro Rinpung Dzong

The massive three hundred and fifty year old fort is the center of governance for the Province of Paro. The governor, the chief judge and other government official keep office within the walls of this fort following old traditions. Half the fort is permanently occupied two hundred resident monks. Every year in the spring, the fort is host to one of Bhutan’s biggest religious festival.

Kyichu Temple

Kyichu temple, is one of the oldest temples in the country dating as far back as the 7th century. History has it that the temple was a part of an ambitious plan of the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo who wanted to build 108 temples in the region, supposedly to subdue an ogress that traumatized the people in the region.

 

The ruins of Drukgyel Dzong

Set on a knoll with a spectacular view of the surrounding valley the ruins of this fort, which once protected against Tibetan invasions, provides a wonderful architectural insight to the structure of forts in Bhutan. Drukgyel is also the starting point to many of Bhutan’s most famous trekking routes. Tigers Nest Monetary

Day 04: DEPARTURE PARO – DHAKA
